Roots is a photographic series that explores the dynamic relationship between an individual and the earth. For the longest time, I’ve always gravitated towards nature: in my environment, a photograph, or even a painting. I feel an intense connection to nature that stems from wanting to return to being untouched or natural. I’ve found that nature has this innate ability to be innocent, something I feel I’ve lost and have been grieving ever since. In this series, I will mirror the natural forms found in my environment with my own body. Through this black-and-white series, the contrast and tones will show the uncanny similarity of form and shape between the two subjects.
