RUSH DIXON

“SOLLEMNITAS”

I’ve long been drawn to the mystery of abandoned structures. In my exploration, I found that direct photographic documentation alone could not capture the cryptic feeling I experienced in these locations.

But I discovered I could build entire worlds through the manipulation of lighting and by placing my body within the frame. I could become an anonymous character and the unnatural light would set a stage.

These constructed photographs deal accurately with feelings I experience as I seek out and explore the forgotten edifices that dot our shared landscape.
