PENELOPE PERALTA
“IN HER LIGHT”
Penelope Peralta is a portrait photographer who reveals the subtle nuances of the subject’s individuality and is interested in exploring the themes of innocence, culture, fashion, and womanhood. In her work, she explores and expands her creative vision through various mediums, including digital photography, film, and instant Polaroid film.
She shoots with the intention of thoughtfully shaping the relationship between light and color and creating intimate, soft, and serene photographs. Growing up in a Hispanic family immersed in diverse cultures led her to portrait photography, where she could honor and capture different forms of beauty.
In her current project, Penelope continues to explore this approach by photographing and documenting a diverse range of women artists. Through writing, she engages each artist with questions that reflect on their emerging careers in the visual arts. These portraits will showcase not only the artists themselves but also their work, highlighting their unique identities and contributions to the field.
